Just sixteen days after his arrival in Rome, Ivan Juric is already under review. This is written by today’s edition of Corriere dello Sportaccording to which the performance shown against Venezia and Elfsborg in the Europa League is certainly not satisfactory. And, if it were to be confirmed also in tomorrow’s match on the Monza pitch, nothing could be ruled out, even a new dismissal and even the return to Trigoria – we read – of Daniele De Rossi.
Roma, however, paradoxically, applied the new coach’s directives better in the first match, when the change was fresh and the players’ heads were upset. Against Udinese, for at least 70 minutes, we saw an organised, ferocious, concentrated team. The concepts also resisted in the first half against Athletic, then nothing more was seen of Juric’s hand.
The strange thing is that everything seems to be thrown away already at the beginning of October, with Roma in line with the declared objective: the Champions League remains two points away. In the championship, even with a bit of luck against Venezia, Juric won two games out of two. If he were to repeat himself in Monza, he would repeat De Rossi’s initial streak from last winter. Yet this trip has also become fundamental for his future.
