Bigica exalts Vlahovic: “With talent like that, with that hunger you then become a top player”

Interviewed by today’s edition of Tuttosport, Emiliano Bigica he focused on Dusan Vlahovic: “When Dusan arrived in Florence he couldn’t yet be registered due to his age (he did his first internship at Fiorentina in November 2017, not yet eighteen, ed.) and I was struck by the fact that he understood and he spoke Italian: his head was already ahead.

The other thing that always struck me, and for which I bring him as an example to my boys, was the fact that if he wasn’t playing in the first team, he would call me to come to the Primavera because he wanted to play. He was only interested in the match, regardless of the team: he was very hungry, with a great desire to improve. And it’s normal that a player with talent like that, with that hunger, then becomes a top player.”

It is said that this very hunger, this demanding of himself, sometimes turns into a limit for Vlahovic, leading him to be negatively influenced by a mistake and taking away his serenity. You know him well: is this really the aspect that needs to improve to make the final leap in quality?
“Yes. He is very critical of himself, he seeks perfection, but perfection doesn’t exist, especially in an entire season: there are matches in which you can’t be perfect, but you can be useful to the team. So it’s important not to get stuck on a mistake or something that’s wrong and help the team with an extra run, with an extra attack on depth, with an extra discharge, but Dusan knows this, but his hunger, which is certainly a good thing, a Sometimes it leads him to ask too much of himself.”
