Mandorlini: “Marani? He understands the problems like an intelligent person”

During today’s appointment with ‘A Tutta C’ on the frequencies of TMW Radio the coach intervened Andrea Mandorlini. These are his words:

What do you expect from the big match in Group A between Padova and Vicenza?
“I spent 2-3 years in Padua and one year in Vicenza, they are two important places. Padova started very strong and is deservedly ahead, it is a very heartfelt derby. Vicenza has had some problems, they have some important players out but they are there and will fight until the end. It’s always important to outdo yourself in a derby, Padova is deservedly in the lead and is unbeaten, in derbies you never know what can happen. In this situation, Padova seems to be slightly more advantaged in terms of how they approach this match.”

There wasn’t much trust around Andreoletti. How do you rate its start?
“Congratulations to him, he is doing a lot and is deservedly in the lead. Now they have a comparison with a Vicenza team who didn’t start very well but have equally important expectations, there are two points of difference and it only takes a moment. We saw it with Renate, it’s a very balanced group and it will be so regardless of the result of the derby.”

How do you explain Triestina’s complicated start?
“The expectations were certainly different, but in football you never say never. Tesser was still under contract, he will have spoken to the club and I believe he will return to Trieste. There has been confusion, but regardless there is a lack of results that is clear for all to see. It will be difficult to get back into the top positions, I hope you find balance at least in the technical guidance to get into the playoffs which is the minimum objective.”

How does he explain the many premature dismissals at the start of the season?
“We’re used to everything now, I’m no longer surprised by anything. Changing after a short time and talking about projects is difficult. Triestina is changing after seven games, as is Ascoli, there have already been many clubs that have changed and I struggle to give an explanation. To change so quickly, something definitely didn’t work right from the start. I believe there hasn’t been a precise line in many programming. We need to find a balance, to return to Padua and Vicenza they have different ideas and always manage to compete for first places.”

Does this very tight balance in Serie C allow coaches to make an even greater difference?
“I have met important directors, above all Braida who is lending a hand here in Ravenna to the new ownership. It is clear that in these categories the coach has a great influence, at high levels the quality of the players is predominant, then you have to put them in a position to perform at their best and the coach counts. However, the influence of the coach is different and greater in the minor categories.”

How do you explain the compactness of the entire Serie C demonstrated also by the unanimous election of Marani?
“I got to know him when I was in Padua, he is a very intelligent football man and I’m not surprised that we have this very positive feedback. He is a simple and humble person, he understands the problems and does so as an intelligent person. This balance and intelligence is not always found.”

Are there any young players from Serie C who have impressed you?
“I went to see Spal a couple of times, they have some interesting young players. Rao, for example, is a good player, even if Antenucci still makes the difference. I believe that D’Orazio has many qualities and is in an environment where he can do well, I have trained him and I know him. Serie C must return to being the championship I remember when I started where many important young people began their careers.”
