He was also present at the presentation of the third Torino shirt at the Le Gru shopping centre Valentino Lazaro. The Austrian winger released some statements, here are the words of the class of 1996 collected by Tuttomercatoweb.com
What is Vanoli’s secret?
“I feel great. With the coach we work a lot on the details, on the defensive and offensive phases of football. It’s tough, but the mentality is there and we all want to work together. We are on the right path”
He has the responsibility of putting in many crosses for Zapata…
“We have added a very strong attacking forward, we know it. We play a lot to serve the strikers, we also have to make good crosses for Adams, Sanabria and Karamoh: we have quality inside the area, so we can score goals”
Is there a preference range?
“Honestly no, it doesn’t matter to me. In my career I have played in many positions, I learned to make this switch quickly and the coach knows that for me it is not a problem even to change during the same match. The team also knows that if I play on the left I come further into the pitch, or on the right I go further infield.”
Did you expect this impact from Vanoli on Toro?
“Let’s say I partly expected it and partly didn’t, I had worked with him at Inter. Now it’s different because he is the coach, I know his mentality and I knew that he would bring us something important: we have to improve continuously, I believe in the quality of the team. Vanoli is the perfect coach”
Is he the strongest Toro where he played?
“I try to do my best and improve. The first year everything went well, then I hurt my knee and when I returned almost without training it was difficult. And also the following year Bellanova arrived, then I went to the left and it was different than today. Now I feel great, the coach has given me confidence and it’s important for me. Stronger bull? The mentality has certainly grown, but there is still a lot to do. We saw it in the last two races, we have to improve and the season is long: I believe in this team”
Inter are on Saturday: what match will it be?
“It’s the strongest in Italy, they’ve won a lot and we know how they play. At San Siro it will be difficult and special for me, I can’t wait to play. If we want to stay high in the standings, these are the races to win”
