Milan suffers another defeat. After the 3-1 at San Siro against Liverpool, Fonseca’s team lost 1-0 at the BayArena against the German champions who, after the poker at Feyenoord, continue their journey with full points. The goal scored at the start of the second half by Victor Boniface decided the match, a success resulting from a one-sided first part of the match and a late reaction from Milan.
Two-faced match for Fonseca’s team. Perennially in difficulty until the goal that decided the match, Milan rushed forward in attack in the last half hour without however managing to equalise: “The team played well, they created many chances and it’s not easy against a team like Bayer. It’s difficult because we lost, but I think it was the match I liked the most from the team. There’s a strange atmosphere in the dressing room because we deserved another result, but I think we did everything he played well, he created several chances against a team like Bayer. We have to move forward and as I said, it’s the match I’ve liked most since I’ve been at Milan.”
Controversial episode: the penalty not awarded to Milan at the end after a challenge by Hincapiè on Loftus Cheek: “We weren’t given this penalty which I’ve already looked at and it’s clear”, said the Portuguese manager who then took things further in the press conference: “Tonight the referees made a mistake in their decision regarding Milan”.
