Marani on rumors of reduction of C clubs: “Mass distraction operation”

TMW

On the sidelines of the Lega Pro elective assembly which saw him re-elected to the presidency with unanimity of votes (57 preferences out of 57), Matteo Marani released some statements in view of the next Federal Council and the long-awaited reform of the Italian football system:

“We must first of all understand what the overall proposal is. I believe that Serie A’s requests may be legitimate, but remembering that if you want to be the locomotive of a train you also need to take care of the carriages. When Italian football has worked well it has done because all the leagues worked together.

Reduce the number of C teams? I hear a large quantity of numbers, 20, 30 or 40, while other leagues are unable to remove 2 teams out of 20. I believe it is a great operation of mass distraction, to shift the attention to avoid focusing attention on the real problems in the system”.
