Always on the lookout for cheap deals given their financial difficulties and the restrictions imposed by LaLiga financial fair play, Barcelona are already keeping an eye on some players who could be released on July 1st. That’s why, according to information reported by the newspaper Sportthe Catalan would be following the situation with great attention Jonathan David.
The 24-year-old Canadian striker is in the last year of his contract with Lille and could be a valuable piece in the summer of 2025. If he doesn’t reach an agreement with the French, Barça could make him sign a pre-contract as early as next January, without having to pay one euro into the coffers of Les Dogues. A real bargain on paper, given that the player is currently valued at 50 million euros and is liked by many teams, especially in Italy (Milan and Juventus above all).
“Barça has information on the situation but for the moment does not want to go further,” writes Sport, specifying however that this deal would not be linked to the future of Robert Lewandowski, who has a contract until 2026. If the latter remained, Jonathan David he would be seen as a better alternative to Vitor Roque, who was loaned out to Real Betis. David has scored 91 goals in 194 games for Lille, where he has played since 2020 and last weekend he scored a hat-trick against Le Havre.
