Turin, Ricci in City’s sights to replace Rodri: the renewal issue is at stake

The excellent start to the season Samuele Ricciso much so that Spalletti was called up to the national team, certainly could not go unnoticed. Both Torino coach Vanoli and the Italian coach believe very much in him, but also big clubs around Europe are ready to focus on his qualities. In particular, according to what he reports TuttosportThe Manchester City has set his sights on the former Empoli.

The English club has an urgent need, given the serious injury suffered by Rodri. We therefore need a replacement, to be secured in January: in addition to Calhanoglu (a very difficult operation in the current season) and Ederson (key player for Atalanta), we really like Ricci. And it is not an infatuation without concrete evidence: according to the analysts of Cies, a prestigious research centre, the Granata is the second best midfielder in the world for ball possession under pressure.

The Granata club, with Ricci’s entourage, has drawn up a pact, which consists of a multi-year renewal with an adjustment of the salary. All to be perfected in the autumn, so there isn’t much left for the relationship to be extended between October and November. The current agreement, in fact, will expire as early as 2026, so Toro has every interest in wanting to take action quickly: it would have greater strength in the market.

At the same time, then, Ricci now has the legitimate ambition of increasing his salary, which is stuck at around 900 thousand euros net per season: for the role of primary importance held in Granata it is easy to imagine that the director wants to earn more, taking into account of the average salaries in Turin. Once the renewal has been signed (at least until 2028 plus an option year for the Granata club, or directly until 2029, the maximum possible), the question about the future will certainly not be over. Especially if City were to show up from Cairo with very high sums.
