Spezia, Bandinelli: “We are a united group and difficult for anyone to face”

At the end of the excellent performance offered on the Sassuolo pitch, the Spezia midfielder Filippo Bandinelli he spoke like this in the press room: “It was a very balanced match, but we were good at holding the blow, when we had to suffer, and making ourselves heard when there was the possibility, but in general I think we offered an excellent defensive performance, in fact there were no important interventions from Gori, while up front we managed to create some dangerous situations, but were unable to finish.

We are satisfied with the performance at home to a Sassuolo team that has strong players in its squad, we were unable to find the winning episode, but we are giving continuity both to the results and to our tests and this is a very positive aspect.

Sassuolo is a very strong dribbling team, we carefully read the moments in which to attack them high and in which to let them dribble and wait for them lower; in some situations we should have been more clear-headed to make the last pass better, and we certainly need to work on this aspect, because when you play against strong teams like Sassuolo, you have to be good and clear-headed in finishing off the opportunities that arise.

What has changed since last year? Something clicked mentally. Last year every match was an uphill battle and a goal conceded was a boulder against which it was almost impossible to react, while we started this season in the name of continuity, starting from a clear and solid project, and from the first days of training camp we worked well, determined not to absolutely repeat last year’s vintage. We are a united group, everyone plays for their teammate and this makes us a very difficult team to face: it’s nice to be in a group like ours and it’s nice to feel the enthusiasm that can be felt around us, enthusiasm that we have to feed ourselves “.
