After the National Sports Court of Appeal yesterday accepted Pisa’s appeal and decreed the Nerazzurri’s victory by default by 3-0, in circles close to Cittadella there were rumours of a possible appeal by the Veneto club after the Sports Judge in the first instance had approved the 1-1 result decreed by Canto despite the error in the team sheet by the Veneto team.
In fact, Cittadella published a statement on its channels in which it speaks of an ‘extremely penalizing decision’ and of wanting to read the reasons first before a possible appeal. This is the club’s note:
“AS Cittadella takes note of the decision of the FIGC Sports Court of Appeal which overturned the provision issued, in the first instance, by the Sports Judge.
The Company reserves the right, after having read the reasons for the ruling, to appeal to the Guarantee Board since it is certain that the sanction adopted is absolutely disproportionate and excessively afflictive compared to what actually happened.
The decision of the Sports Court of Appeal appears in fact extremely penalisingtaking into account the immediate and transparent conduct of the Company.
AS Cittadella therefore reiterates that it has done everything that seemed reasonable to do to demonstrate, even during the match, its complete good faith.
AS Cittadella also considers the repeated declarations made to the media by Pisa representatives to be irrelevant, tending to exaggerate the incident and mystify reality”.
