The very heavy defeat suffered yesterday in the derby against Red Star (0-4), the third consecutive against their long-time rivals, has aggravated the crisis of Partizan Belgrade and above all has unleashed the anger of the fans. Even before the match, the atmosphere around the stadium was tense; after the final whistle, some supporters even entered the pitch to vandalize the pitch and then went to the locker room, where they broke a window and injured the coach in the face Alexander Stanojevic.
The coach suffered cuts on various parts of his face and, after the press conference where he showed up shaken and bandaged, he resigned: “What can I say, it’s a disgrace. I take responsibility for it, it’s the worst defeat of my career. It’s my fault if we lost the match. It’s a shame for everyone; I’m sorry that we lost the match in this way, without fighting, without anything. Red Star showed class and I apologize to all Partizan fans because we were playing at home.
It’s difficult for me. I’m sorry to be here in this state; if we had drawn 0-0 I wouldn’t have come, in this case I had to show up in these conditions too. I was hit by the glass in the dressing room, I lost a little blood, but I’m not making a drama”. The protests, the Serbian press reports, continued in the streets of Belgrade after the match.
