Former striker Francesco ‘Ciccio’ Graziani gave an interview to the columns of The Venetian Messenger returning to Udinese’s 3-0 defeat at Roma, both of his former teams when he was a player, and also delving into some micro-themes linked to the match itself at the Olimpico.
Graziani says: “Udinese had two options: to put their opponent in trouble by taking advantage of their problems, or to have a bad day by suffering all of Roma’s desire. The second option was worth it, and clearly so.” He continues: “Roma showed character and personality, Udinese suffered excessively from the pressing. The difficulties were caused by Roma who played with an anger never shown before.”
Graziani also has his say on De Rossi, fresh from his dismissal by the Giallorossi: “He didn’t deserve such treatment from the club. Udinese could have had a greater impact from the start, but the victory was clear. I just have some doubts about the penalty… For how Dybala fell in the area, but I still trust the VAR”. Graziani has his say on a centre forward who smells of Azzurri like Lucca: “He must grow in character, put more competitive anger and determination into it. Without fear of clashes, in duels he must hold his ground and acquire a little more skill. He seems too much like a good boy”.
