The Fiorentina winger Robin Gosens gave an interview to Cronache di Spogliatoio that will be released tomorrow on the Youtube channel. Here is a short excerpt of the interview:
“Last season I fell mentally. I was in Berlin, my family wasn’t happy. Already on the pitch things weren’t going right, when I returned home there was negativity. My psychologist was fundamental. Knowing me, without her it would have been even worse. In that period there I had a video call with her every day. If I hadn’t had my psychologist, and the awareness of my university path (a degree in psychology, ed.), perhaps it would have been much worse and I would have fallen differently. We are not just football players, but we are human beings. It seems trivial, but it is not.
When I wasn’t called up for EURO2024, my world fell apart. I cried, I won’t hide it. I intensified the process with my psychologist. I came back to Germany for this. I really cared about it: I came back to Germany with huge expectations and to go to the national team. I wanted to make a difference, to help the boys grow. Instead we never won. It touched me a lot, I still think about it often, if I could have done something differently. If I could have done something to avoid the situation. I still haven’t found the answer”.
