Alberto Zaccheroni gave an interview to ‘Radio 1’ to analyse Milan’s victory in the derby: “We were all wrong about the prediction. We expected a match in favor of Inter. The final result was a surprise. The Milan we saw recently did not seem to be able to compete with Inter. Instead, last night Milan proposed themselves in a different way, they changed the cards on the table, with the four players up front and with Morata in the role of pendulum between midfield and attack. Inter got lost, these four men on the same line blocked the defenders and a lot of the Nerazzurri’s game starts from there. A move that took away the confidence of Inzaghi’s team, who were unable to play their usual game”.
On how Ibrahimovic is interpreting the role of manager, these are Zaccheroni’s thoughts: “I’ll start by saying that I’ve been lucky enough to coach many great champions during my career, but not Ibrahimovic. It’s a regret, Ibra was a lot of stuff. The role of a manager is similar to that of a coach: you have to sew things together, unite. I don’t agree with the protagonism, the showing off a lot.”
Finally, his assessment of Rafael Leao: “I’ve been studying him since he arrived in Italy. He has the qualities, no one questions that, what’s missing is continuity, presence on the pitch. He spends too little time in the game. He’s a guy you have to talk to a lot. The talent is there, but he’s too inconsistent. He’s also struggling to handle the captain’s armband. He has to be the player he is, but you shouldn’t give him other tasks. It’s no coincidence that they took it away from him after one game. Players have a mind, you have to be in tune with that mind to get the best out of him.”
