Raul Moro: “My desire was to have an important career in Lazio, it’s a regret”

Long interview in connection with Radio Six for the former Lazio footballer Raul Moro. The Spanish winger, now at Real Valladolid, spoke about his time in the Biancoceleste: “Things are going well at Real Valladolid, it’s a very important moment for me. Starting with positive numbers in La Liga (two goals in six games) allows you to gain a lot of confidence. We’re doing very well at home, we haven’t conceded a goal at home yet, we’ve also played on very difficult pitches like Real Madrid and Barça. We’re coming off a draw with Real Sociedad (Lazio’s opponent in the Europa League, ed.). They’re a great team, they’re very strong, they’ve also done well in the Champions League. They’re not going through their best moment right now, but they’re very difficult to face.”

His past in white and blue: “When I arrived at Lazio I was a kid. I learned a lot from the great players I played with and the coaches I had. Little by little I’m trying to put everything into practice, showing my qualities. I’m succeeding, I started off well. If I had to name a coach who impressed me and taught me the most I would say Sarri. I like the football he plays, it’s very Spanish, his 4-3-3. It’s true that I didn’t find much space, but there were great players ahead of me. Regrets about my experience at Lazio? I’m not saying it’s anyone’s fault, in the end I’m the one playing. I didn’t mind Lazio’s investment of six million, I played in the Primavera, I didn’t think about it. Then when you move up to the first team maybe you think about it more. In an interview I spoke about a management that could have been different, I was referring more to internal issues, to the family, to the agents, nothing that concerns the club. I have no regrets, of course in the end that amount that was spent is felt”.

On his arrival in white and blue: “A few days ago, a sentence said here in Spain was mistranslated. The decision to leave Barcelona to go to Lazio was not difficult, I had no doubts about the destination. I think they got the translation wrong, since in Italy the opposite was reported. I am still a Lazio fan, I love this club. I love Lazio, I feel like a fan, those who know me know that I wanted to return to Spain but if there was the possibility of staying at Lazio I would have done it. In Italy only Lazio. A return? You never know in football, it is a world in which surprises are always around the corner. I say maybe, that would be a dream. My desire was to have an important journey at Lazio, that is the only regret. Now I am very focused on Valladolid and on the salvation that we must obtain on the pitch”.

Zaccagni captain: “It’s the coach’s choice from what I’ve read. I still speak with the Spaniards who are at Lazio, but I don’t know much. There’s a reason he was chosen and he’s doing well. Pedro? A phenomenon on and off the pitch, the best teammate I’ve had. For his quality, for how he treated me, for the person and champion he is. I’ve never seen a teammate like him who has won everything be so humble. He also wrote to congratulate me on being called up to the national team. I’ve had many friendships, especially with the Spaniards or with those who speak it, like Luka Romero. He was one of the first to do it, something unique. Luis Alberto? He was definitely someone who said what he thought, if he had to tell you something he was very frank. Baroni’s Lazio is very offensive, you might think it could have gone better now, but you’ll never know what could have happened.”
