The League Cup match scheduled for tomorrow between Wimbledon and Newcastle United has been postponed due to “extensive overnight flooding on the River Wandle”, following torrential rain that has hit much of southern England in the past few hours.
The London club announced on their official channels: “We regret to inform supporters that, due to the extensive overnight flooding of the River Wandle, which has affected our Cherry Red Records Stadium, Tuesday night’s Carabao Cup third round match against Newcastle United has been postponed. Further information will follow in due course. The stadium will remain closed until further notice.”
