Mixed emotions for Hansi Flick after his Barcelona side’s stunning 5-1 win over Villarreal at the Estadio de la Cerámica. The German coach was happy with his team’s performance, which earned them their sixth win in six La Liga games, but was also concerned about goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen’s injury, which came just before half-time: “I’m very proud of the way the team played and the performance of my players. I think the fans enjoyed a fantastic and dynamic match,” said the coach.
“I’m happy because the team was compact at all times, in attack and defense. We were intense during the 90 minutes and I love this attitude. We were focused at all times, but we also enjoyed playing good football.”
For the Barça coach, it was a team victory. Flick also highlighted the numbers of Raphinha, Lewandowski and the defense, as well as commenting on the serious injury of his compatriot Marc-André ter Stegen: “He is a very important player for us and I am sorry, it was a fortuitous accident”.
