After months of rumours and indiscretions about his future, the market soap opera linked to Rayan Cherki it was resolved positively for Olympique Lyon. The attacking midfielder born in 2003, who grew up in the youth sector of OL, has in fact renewed for two seasons plus an optional third. Below is the official press release from the Ligue 1 club.

“Revealed from an early age for his immense potential, Rayan Cherki made his debut in the first team at just 16 years old, becoming the third youngest player in OL history to play at professional level after Joël Fréchet and Laurent Fournier.

Over five seasons, the Espoirs international and Paris Olympic silver medallist played 141 games for Lyon, scoring 17 goals and providing 25 assists. At the age of 21, Rayan Cherki contributed significantly to the club’s exceptional second half of last season and has now decided to commit to Olympique Lyonnais on a long-term basis. OL is delighted to be able to count on a striker who is deeply attached to his hometown and his club.”
