At the end of the match won against Verona, the Granata coach Paul Vanoli spoke to the microphones of Turin Channel: “It was a game I was really afraid of because this is a difficult pitch, but as long as we were numerically even, we played it well. As it happens, where we need to improve, is that when you have a numerical advantage you have to be good at maintaining concentration. We insisted a lot on looking for the strikers and losing the ball on the counterattacks. And in the end we conceded a goal that we should have avoided.”
Satisfied with the approach?
“A lot. I didn’t get my hopes up before when we played against big teams. This one was. There’s still a long way to go but the lads have realised how much we did wrong against Lecce where we were too slow.”
Sanabria?
“I’m lucky to have four different and good strikers. Strong. I definitely have the opportunity, based on what we have to look for in the games, to have these players who have different characteristics. They have to feel important in a project and Sanabria has shown that. I’m sorry for the penalty but I’m happy for the strikers who scored. Having said that, we have to avoid the two goals we conceded.”
Is Zapata reaching top form?
“At the beginning we need to find the rhythm of the match. We still have to work a lot, especially at the back. We need to slowly find the condition for these players.”
Changes in view of the Coppa Italia?
“I plan to do something important in the Coppa Italia too. Torino must think that every match must be faced at its best. Whoever enters must give their all”.
