Bayern, Neuer to start. Actually no: out at the last minute due to thigh problems, Ulreich in his place

Yet he had been included in the starting lineup, as faithfully reported by Bayern Munich itself on the official portal and various social media accounts. In the end, however, Manuel Neuer did not make it and threw in the towel, being substituted during the pre-match warm-up against Werder Bremen by Sven Ulreich between the posts.

What happened?
According to what was reported by Sky Sports UKManuel Neuer had signaled that he was back in form after a relapse during the week in the Champions League match against Dinamo Zagreb, dominated 9-2, which also caused the German goalkeeper to be substituted at half-time. But with today’s match against Werder, valid for the fourth round of the Bundesliga, Bayern Munich together with coach Vincent Kompany decided not to take any risks and left Neuer out of the warm-up and then the match.

This is the short announcement broadcast on their social profiles: “Manuel Neuer has cancelled the warm-up. His thigh has shown a slight reaction. To be on the safe side, Sven Ulreich will replace him between the posts,” Bayern announced shortly before kick-off.
