Simeone’s Atletico comeback: Leipzig beaten 2-1, Gimenez decides in the final

In the last gasp. Atlético Madrid came from behind to beat Red Bull Leipzig at the Wanda Metropolitano to claim their first three points in the ‘league phase’ of the 2024/25 Champions League. Trailing by a goal after Benjamin Sesko’s early goal, Simeone’s team equalised just before the half-hour mark with a goal from Antoine Griezmann. Then, in the last gasp, the goal that set the final score at 2-1: a cross from Griezmann and a header from Gimenez.
