Kevin Danso, one step away from Roma until medical tests. To the disappointment of Lens

Danso has been flirting with Italy for years. He came very close last August. “Kevin Danso remains at Lens, negotiations with Roma have broken off after reaching an agreement”. With this press release, the French club, on August 30, made official the impossibility of closing Danso’s transfer to the Giallorossi. “The long interpretation of a medical examination was the cause of this interrupted transfer. Now the club is questioning the underlying reasons for the failure to validate this movement for a player who is being carefully monitored and who has played in seasons with more than 30 games both on French and international pitches. We maintain the utmost confidence in our defensive pillar, we will be pleased to subject him to an appropriate protocol before having him wear our colours again”.

Danso did not hide his disappointment on Instagram. I am disappointed and angry about the course of the past few days and the failure to transfer to AS Roma. Above all, I am very surprised by the alleged reason for the cancellation of the transfer. Both the ÖFB doctors and the medical department of RC Lens have accompanied me closely in recent years and have examined me regularly. The last time I was checked in Lens was at the start of the season. No critical issues were ever detected.”

From then on, however, the Austrian centre-back did not play a single match. Neither in the league nor with the national team, after the doctors themselves decided that he needed additional visits and that he was not eligible for the Nations League matches. It is not known whether Roma is right or not, but for sure everything was not okay. In the last transfer window, he was also followed by Atalanta. Today Kevin Danso turns 26.
