The 9-2 defeat suffered by Bayern Munich in their Champions League debut of the season was the straw that broke the camel’s back for the Dinamo Zagreb. So the Croatian club has chosen to cut short and part ways with the coach Sergey Jakirovićin order to turn the page. The new technical guide has not yet been announced, but the issue will be resolved as soon as possible – the company communicates.

The official press release
GNK Dinamo informs the public that an amicable termination of the contract with the current Blues coach Sergej Jakirović has been agreed. The first team will be led in the short term by the current member of the coaching staff, Sandro Perković, until a decision is made on a new long-term solution.

Sergej Jakirović took over as Dinamo coach at a delicate time, after a turbulent match against Greek side AEK in the third round of the Champions League qualifiers, when head coach Igor Bišćan was fired. Sergej Jakirović had led the team for much of the previous season, which culminated in a double title, marked by 11 consecutive victories. That season, the team played 51 official matches and finished top of the table with an eight-point advantage over second-placed Rijeka and a double-digit difference over their rivals. Jakirović had led the Azzurri in exactly 60 matches in one year and 29 days, recording 41 wins, nine draws and 10 losses. In addition, he spent half a year without defeat in official matches, from March 14 and the match lost against PAOK in Thessaloniki until this Friday 13 and the loss of points against Hajduk. In that interval he played 21 official matches without defeat. He concluded his tenure with the victory of the championship, the Cup winners’ cup, the placement in the round of 16 of the Conference League and access to the Champions League.

We sincerely thank Sergej Jakirović for everything he has done for our club and wish him good luck and success in his future career”, the Croatian club’s announcement concluded.

We had a pleasant cooperation, he left me with the impression of a quality person and I wish him good luck in his future career.
