Rabiot leaves Marseille. Official signature with De Zerbi’s Olympique

Adrien Rabiot to leave Olympique Marseille. No Premier League for the Frenchman, who will also have to watch the Champions League from the sofa this season, and signs a two-year deal with the team coached by Roberto De Zerbi. The announcement came directly from the French club, which made the midfielder’s arrival official: “Olympique Marseille is pleased to announce the signing of Adrien Rabiot. At 29 years old, the midfielder has signed for our club after passing his medical.” Certainly a step back for the former Juventus player, after his contract with the Bianconeri ended on June 30, but a new adventure to try to make a difference in his homeland.

Thus ends one of the longest torments of the summer, almost at the end of the “beautiful season”. Rabiot had left Juve after five seasons and after having won a Scudetto, two Italian Cups and a Super Cup, but leaving, as in his entire career, a sense of incompleteness. There has always been a sort of love-hate relationship for a player with great potential – especially physical – but too inconsistent and for this reason criticized and praised at the same time. However, Rabiot has always reconciled his coaches, who have defended him and never given up on his qualities: from Sarri to Pirlo, up to – above all – Max Allegri, the 29-year-old from Saint-Maurice has been untouchable and indispensable with everyone, the point of reference of the midfield.

Same goes for the French national team: Didier Deschamps, when he could, always fielded him as a starter and his contribution, although characterized by an inconsistent performance, was fundamental for a team that in the last five years has only come close to triumph, reaching a World Cup final and a European semi-final. There won’t be another stop in Italy but now comes a new challenge, in the rival club of “his” PSG, at the court of a coach (Italian) who knows him well and who will now have an extra arrow in his bow to really dream big.
