PSV, Schouten: “Italian football is catenaccio, but Juve with Thiago Motta does not do it”

Jerdy Schoutenmidfielder of the PSVspoke at a press conference on the eve of the match against Juventusvalid for the first Champions League match: “Italian football is specific but I don’t think that Juventus with Thiago Motta plays typically Italian football so it doesn’t help much. Italian football is defensive, catenaccio, they certainly won’t do it so it’s not comparable. In my opinion the match will be very beautiful and Juve hasn’t played in the Champions League for a while”.

You are in good form. What kind of coach is Thiago Motta?
“We know what awaits us tomorrow so we are tense but we can’t wait to play this match against Thiago Motta who is my old coach. He wants to play dominant football and impose his game, it’s up to us not to let that happen. Differences with Bosz? He also wants a dominant game”.

How important was Thiago Motta for you?
“I didn’t work with him that much, maybe six months but he played in my role so I learned from him. I’m grateful to him, because he made me improve a lot, so I wrote him a message when he arrived at Juve.”

How long does it take to learn Motta’s game?
“We at Bologna did it early. I hope Juve haven’t learned yet. Both teams will want to dominate the game.”
