Mattia Sangallimidfielder of the Trentospoke during the programme “A Tutta C” broadcast on the frequencies of TMW Radio to comment on various topics.
Can the bar be raised this season? How much does it weigh not playing at Briamasco?
“We will definitely aim to have a season along the lines of last year, trying to have better moments in the intermediate phase of the championship. It’s too early to talk about objectives now, we have to think game by game. We can’t wait to play in front of our fans because having your own public behind you is fundamental.”
Which are the favourites?
“I think that, like every year, it is right to put Vicenza, Padova and Triestina as favourites, since they are the ones who have made the most investments. History teaches us, however, that the teams who have spent less but made the right purchases also have an excellent championship.”
What can you tell us about the manager and the team?
“I only had the chance to work with the group for one real week because I had some problems with my knee. I tried to fix this problem and therefore I had little time with the team. However, I can only speak well of both the coach and the team. The coach is a coach who has his ideas and tries to explain them to us and teach us all of them. We have to try to put into play what he asks of us. Even if in these three initial games we have collected less than we should have, the team is giving good ideas. Now next Sunday’s game will be important”.
Trento is an ever-growing reality.
“In January it will be two years that I wear the Trento jersey and when I arrived the situation was very different. In fact, we were at risk of relegation. Last year we grew and I fully embraced the project because I see that every year there is always a desire and a way to improve. As the overall value of the team grows, the individual also improves.”
You played both in Primavera and Serie C, how complicated is the leap for a youngster? What do you think about the U23s?
“I think the leap is clear and important. I haven’t found much space in my experience and, in these cases, everything gets complicated. The U23s give young people the chance to play and maybe even train sometimes with the first team. In my opinion, the second teams are an important project and are the basis for the future of football in Italy. I think that many teams, who have the right economic capacity, will include them”.
Has Serie C grown qualitatively in recent years?
“I haven’t experienced or seen Serie C much in the past. I can say, however, that on a qualitative level Serie C is important. For me there are some profiles that qualitatively could have their say even in more important categories. For me, then, the pitch can also have an impact on some plays that are seen in higher categories”.
