Venice, Antonelli: “We wanted Carboni and we’ll try again, but Monza won’t give him away”

Philip Antonellisporting director of Venezia, spoke about the market and more in an interview given to TuttoVeneziaSport.it: “The promotion was the pinnacle, but everything we have done to bring the fans closer to Venezia and these colours makes me proud. When I arrived there were around 1500 Supporters Cards, now there are 15 thousand, it means that there is a great love around Venezia”.

How do you budget for certain expenses for engagements? Is it just inexperience?
“It’s inexperience, sometimes agents make you believe that to have a player you have to do who knows what, these things happen, there’s nothing behind it, simple inexperience.”

Have you tried to bring back Andrea Carboni?
“Yes, we tried but we made him grow too well (laughs). We’ll try again, but Monza obviously won’t give him away.”

Would you have expected this rise when you arrived with the team in last place and with financial problems?
“I have always believed, as I still believe, in doing something great here. I never had any doubts.”

Obviously we save ourselves with the group, but is there a single who will have to act as a driving force?
“You have to save yourself with the group for sure, but clearly someone like Pohjanpalo is the center of attention, I think he can transmit his energy to the rest of the team.”
