Milan regains Morata but loses Bennacer. The midfielder will be out until January

The last few hours at Milan have been extremely tenseespecially with regards to the infirmary. On the one hand, in fact, the Rossoneri club is ready to welcome (again) Alvaro Morataon the other hand the bad (or rather, very bad) news unfortunately comes from the front Ismael BennacerBut let’s proceed in order.

Morata in the group
The Spanish striker, bought this summer by Milan, returned to training yesterday at Milanello with the rest of the group. The former Atletico Madrid player stopped last August 17th during the league debut against Torino due to a muscle problem and should be available for the next match against Venezia (even though for that occasion mister Fonseca will field the Englishman Tammy Abraham in the starting eleven). In any case, an excellent sign also in view of the Champions League match against Liverpool and the derby against Inter.

Bennacer, see you in 2025
As mentioned, the bad news arrives – as feared – regarding Ismael Bennacer. The tests that the Algerian midfielder born in ’97 underwent have in fact confirmed what the fans were hoping for, namely a severe injury to the medial gemellus muscle of the right calf. This is the official note from Milan with the medical report: “The tests that Bennacer underwent have confirmed a severe injury to the medial gemellus muscle of the right calf. A specialist reassessment will be carried out in a week in order to define the best treatment for full functional recovery”. Therefore, next week the midfielder, injured in training with Algeria, will be reassessed by the Rossoneri medical staff and will decide with the club whether to opt for conservative therapy or to proceed immediately with an operation.

Forward the young people
In any case, we are moving towards the confirmation of the stoppage period which is estimated at at least three months (but it could also be four), as per the first diagnosis of the Algerian national team staff. Consequently, to see Bennacer back on the pitch in full condition between clinical recovery and return to form, we will have to wait at least until January. A significant blow for Fonseca, who will now also have to redesign the alternations in the middle of the pitch. No to the free agent market, as we know, but forward with Kevin Zeroli and Silvano Vos, the two Milan Futuro profiles who should be “promoted” to the first team. For now, in fact, in the role left “uncovered” by Bennacer for mister Fonseca, Musah, Fofana and Reijnders remain available, in addition to Loftus-Cheek who could once again move back his range of action, leaving the position in the three-quarter line.
