Gallo: “In the summer I had the opportunity to leave, but I wanted to stay in Lecce”

Anthony GalloLecce defender, spoke today at a press conference in the week of preparation for the challenge at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino. The player – among other topics (read the full statements here) – also focused on the transfer market rumors that emerged in the last summer session: “I read a bit of news, people stopped me but there was never anything concrete in Italy. I had the opportunity to leave but I didn’t, I wanted to stay in Lecce. This will be my last year in Lecce and I want to enjoy it to the fullest”.

You have grown a lot between the end of 2023 and the beginning of 2024. Do you also believe in the national team?
“The match against Atalanta on December 30th was useful, maybe something clicked in me from a mental point of view. Every year you grow. Obviously the national team is a dream I’ve had since I was a child. I hope to get a call from mister Spalletti one day”.

How useful was the victory against Cagliari?
“We knew that the calendar wouldn’t help us in the first two games. The first three points against Cagliari were important, a very hard-fought match, playing with 10 men. Torino has always been a great team, very physical. We are preparing well, we hope to bring home the result. The victory was very useful, we understood that we are a great group. We want to play with everyone, putting heart and determination”.
