Home Presentation Day Laziowith the white and blue club bringing the defender to the press room Samuel Gigotthe latest purchase of the summer transfer market. These are the player’s words reported by Lalaziosiamonoi: “I thank Director Fabiani and the President for this opportunity.”
What was your idea of Serie A? First impression in these first days? What is Baroni asking you?
“In Italy there have always been great defenders, I love to defend. I have had many Italian coaches, what I see here I have already done. I am ready to work in the defensive line and to do what they ask of me.”
Do you have specific role models? What do you think you can give to Lazio? Where can you get to?
“There are many role models. I have followed Cannavaro since I was little and also Nesta, they are great Italian defenders who have made history. I think we have to do our best and give everything for the fans and the club. Then we will see where we are”.
What did Guendouzi tell you? What convinced you to come? How does it feel to play with the other Lazio defenders?
“I spoke a lot with Guendouzi, especially in the last few days. He didn’t have to convince me, I just needed a push. In OM we all learned that you have to give your all and we will do it here too. I can play with anyone in defence, I saw that the centre-backs are very good”.
Are you already dreaming of scoring in the derby?
“It’s the first thing I thought about. I know that the derby is a very important match and only winning matters. For the fans it’s life, it’s not about scoring, but about winning.”
What are your goals for this season? What was your idea of Lazio before coming?
“The primary objective is to get in shape as soon as possible. I want to be in shape straight away and play as much as possible and well, which is the most important thing. When Lazio called me I thought about going there, it’s a great team and I’ve always followed it because I also played with Marusic”.
What is his condition? Is he ready to meet your fans against Verona?
“Ask the coach, I have to be 100% to play. The break helped me above all to get into rhythm. I want to play and get to know this crowd. I was at the stadium against Milan and there was an incredible atmosphere”.
Can he help the team in terms of grit and personality?
“I don’t want to talk about myself. I’ve always given my all 200%.”
How much did the Italian coaches you had help you improve? Are they different from Baroni?
“I felt a lot of physical preparation with them, but we also did different tactics. I learned something from everyone, the common thing is that they always wanted to win”.
How is your approach to Italian football? Last year in the Europa League you faced Atalanta…
“The hardest challenge of my career is always the next one. The quality of Italian teams is evident, they put a lot of pressure. I arrived with the right humility and with the idea of giving my all”.
