Italian Ultras against Israel, no legal consequences. And watch out for the return match

The events of Monday night’s Nations League match won 2-1 by Italy against Israel continue to be a topic of discussionor rather just before the dancing began. During the playing of the Israeli national anthem, in fact, about fifty Italian fans of the ‘Ragazzi con i Tricolori’ movement turned their backs to the pitch. Later, during the anthem, they sang: “Italy, Italy, Italy…” and then, when the stadium speaker called for the chorus in favor of Israel, they were the protagonists of further boos.

An article in today’s edition of returns to the topic The Republicwhich begins by learning that the Ministry of the Interior is identifying the identity of the aforementioned supporters through videosof likely neo-fascist origin. Among the objects of their chants is also the MEP Ilaria Salis. It is unlikely, the newspaper writes, that there will be any legal consequences, not even sanctions, but the political case remains.

And not only that, because we also have to think about the return match between Italy and Israelwhich will be played in Udine on October 14. For the moment, there are no security measures different from those already in place. Two days before, the Jewish calendar celebrates the solemn holiday of Yom Kippur and it is not expected that many Israeli fans will go to the match.
