Cagliari in mourning: Cesare Poli, one of the protagonists of the 1970 championship, has passed away

Mourning at home Cagliari. Through its official channels, the Sardinian club has announced the passing of Caesar Poliamong the protagonists of the historic championship won by the rossoblù in the 1969/1970 season.

Born in Breganze, in the Vicenza area, on January 6, 1945, Poli was born as a midfielder but, as the island club recalls, “his eclecticism was his strong point. He could play with equal efficiency as a full-back, midfielder, or pure defender. He made his determination and running ability count, which had remained unchanged since his youth. For his dynamism and his versatility, he was one of the favorites of all the coaches who succeeded one another on the Cagliari bench, who knew they could count on him on every occasion”.

Raised in the youth teams of Vicenza, he made his professional debut with the red and whites, before moving to Inter without managing to establish himself. After two seasons with the black and blues, he landed in Cagliari, from 1969 to 1971. He would then wear the island’s jersey again from 1973 to 1975, after a new spell at Vicenza. Like many protagonists of that historic tricolor, he then decided to settle in Sardinia.

To Poli’s family and loved ones, our deepest condolences from the editorial staff of TuttoMercatoWeb.
