France report cards – Barcola’s lightning-fast and illusory goal, Clauss’ nightmare match

Final result: France-Italy 1-3

Maignan 6 – Among the few who are saved. He has little to reproach himself for the three goals conceded, also keeping his team afloat in the second half with a miracle header from Frattesi.

Claus 4.5 – Definitely a poor choice by Deschamps. In the first half Frattesi gets lost when he hits the crossbar and is helpless on the winning triangle between Tonali and Dimarco that leads to 1-1. The second half is equally difficult, during which he does not close well on Udogie in the action of 1-3. From 77′ Koundé sv.

Konate 5.5 – The Liverpool centre-back confirmed the good things he is showing in the Premier League, making few or no mistakes, especially in the first half of the game, and then suffering more afterwards.

Saliba 5 – A two-faced match for him, who noticeably drops after the break. In particular, he lets Raspadori drink him when he closes the match.

Theo Hernandez 5.5 – When he has the chance, he pushes and accompanies the action, but it doesn’t turn out to be one of his most inspired evenings.

Fomana 5 – A night to forget for the new Milan signing, who effectively started the Italian action that turned the match around with Frattesi’s goal. From 58′ Kone 5.5 – With him on the pitch, things don’t improve much in midfield. He’s tough on many tackles.

Kanté 5.5 – Test far from the standards he has accustomed to throughout his career. In the second half, as long as he remains on the pitch, he does not improve. From 77′ Zaire-Emery sv.

Olise 6 – Bayern’s new signing makes it clear why the Bavarians decided to focus on him, as he was often in the thick of the action – especially in the first 20 minutes. From 58′ Dembele 5 – He should have given a boost to the French attack, but he showed himself mostly negatively for his errors in the final meters.

Griezmann 5.5 –He is announced on the left side of the attack, but plays mostly as a central defender. At the start he stifles Ricci in the build-up, but otherwise struggles to emerge. From 77′ Thuram sv.

Barcola 6.5 – The best of his team. He unlocks the match after 14 seconds, stealing the ball from Di Lorenzo and being ice cold in front of Donnarumma. Dangerous on other occasions too, but in the second half he drops like the rest of the team.

Mbappe 5.5 – He plays as an advanced reference and then varies, often starting from the left. A fairly constant danger, more with his insertions into the area than in terms of actual occasions.

Didier Deschamps 5 – The beginning could not have been better, only that. For the rest, a lot of presumption and inability to counter the proud Italian reaction.
