Cagliari, Palomino: “Guitar, architecture and reading: this is how I’m mentally stronger on the pitch”

On the day of his presentation in the press room, the new Cagliari defender Jose Palomino he also spoke to Radio TV Serie A: “Cagliari and mister Nicola: I had already spoken to President Giulini last season, this year I managed to get there. Cagliari made me understand that they wanted to count on me, so, faced with this situation and the desire to continue in Serie A, I made this decision. Feelings? I have to do well, I really want to grow and help the team. We have to reach the goal and do the best we can: it takes concentration, ambition and awareness, we will have to work because this year, like every year, it will be tough. Nicola? I think he has a similar method to Gasperini: keep the ball, create play, focus on one-on-one, creating an identity. We are working, we have played three games, we all have to improve and me first and foremost”.

Leadership and Environment:
“I found teammates who made me feel important right away, we will all work together and help each other. The atmosphere? I just arrived, I can’t say what it’s like yet: playing at home is a great experience, the people are close to us. I found an environment that has ambition and the desire to bring home results: we’ll see at the end of the year what we can do, the important thing is to have the desire and be willing to work. My goal in Cagliari? To grow personally and help the team and the club create an identity. I’ll give my best, but I don’t want to talk too much: we have to work and prove ourselves on the pitch”.

Passion for architecture and music:
“Having hobbies helps you relax and escape a bit from the pressure of football. Architecture, reading… all these passions help me relax and return to the field with more mental strength. It certainly helps, what you need is to relax your mind: so you can think quickly and act on the field. I play the guitar, this is also a hobby and it relaxes me: it gives me physical and psychological energy, helping me to create a balance”.
