The attacking midfielder and son of art Samuele Inacio Pia who left Atalanta and Italian football in the summer to move to Borussia Dortmund, gave an interview to the official channels of the FIGC after being among the best on the pitch in the brilliant 2-0 victory against Portugal, on the 1st day of the “Città di Trieste” International Tournament.
Says the 2008 class playmaker: “Wearing the blue jersey is a source of pride and an incredible emotion, because it allows me to represent my country. Scoring against a national team as strong as Portugal – underlines the author of the 1-0 in the Azzurrini’s debut match against the Lusitanians – is always beautiful, especially if it helps the team to win”. A success that Italy hopes to repeat tomorrow (8pm, live on Vivo Azzurro TV) against Switzerland, again at the renovated ‘Nereo Rocco’ stadium: “We will give our all to win, trying to have control of the match, as mister Favo wants”.
Born on April 2, 2008 in Bergamo from father João Batista Inácio ‘Piá’, former Atalanta and Napoli striker (“his advice is fundamental, both in football and in life”), and his mother Silva, began playing football at the age of 5 in Mapello, an amateur club in Bergamo, after falling in love with Neymar’s play (“I like his way of experiencing football as fun”). In January 2015, he joined the Atalanta youth team, before moving to Borussia Dortmund this summer.
