Palacios Inter’s latest purchase, the former coach: “Inzaghi should let him dribble freely”

The latest purchase – in chronological order – for Inter in the summer transfer market that just ended brought Simone Inzaghi an additional young defender, the 2003-born Argentine national Tomas Palacios that the Nerazzurri acquired outright from Independiente de Rivadavia, who in turn had bought him just before from Talleres, the club where Palacios grew up and established himself in his first steps as a pro.

And to delve deeper into his figure, the online edition of The Sports Gazette interviewed Sebastiano Balbìwho coached Palacios during his time in the youth teams of Atletico Costa Brava. Balbi says: “He combined physique with technique, despite his height, so much so that during tournaments we often gave him the number 10. Every now and then he tried to score with an overhead kick and succeeded. He decided a match in a tournament with that move. He played as a playmaker, a striker, a winger, then he offered to play at the back because of his height. It went so well that in the following matches he chose to continue in that position. He had talent”.

The former Atletico Costa Brava coach then gives advice to Simone Inzaghi: “Tomas has always had a thing for Europe, he aimed to get there. He deserves Inter, he’s a golden boy. And I give Inzaghi some advice: give him the freedom to dribble. He’s always known how to do it.”
