Della Latta: “In Serie C I would have moved only for Vicenza. And so I did”

Press conference day at home Vicenza, with the new acquisition Simone Della Latta who showed up at the square. These, taken from the club’s official channels, are the words of the footballer, who arrived from Carrarese who had beaten the Venetians in the Serie C playoff final: “I’m happy to be in Vicenza, because it’s an important place with an equally important history. This year we need to have a top championship and try to bring home Serie B. The team has all the qualities to do so”.

Going to the negotiation: “Once the championship was over I spoke with Carrarese and I wasn’t leaving, then there were some technical differences with the coach and I decided to move. It all started after mid-August, up until that moment I had no intention of leaving, because I had just won Serie B on the pitch, I was twenty minutes from home and I was the captain. It was a brave choice but I am convinced that it is the right one. I had told the agent that in Serie C I would have moved only to Vicenzabut I’m not saying that because I’m here now, I really thought so and when a glimmer of hope for this negotiation opened up I pushed and in the end it went well”.

He concludes: “I think it’s better to have a top championship in Vicenza than to have a championship floating in Serie B. I had a good time in Carrara, but I’m happy to have come here and I hope to give my contribution. I wasn’t out of the squad, I always trained with the team, I played a few friendlies and a few minutes in the Coppa Italia. I’m not in top condition, but I can give the team a hand. If the coach thinks there’s a need, I’m available. The group is ready for this step, many guys have already won championships. The fundamental thing is to create a group that thinks in unison, regardless of who plays”.
