Tom Saintfiet, a Belgian coach with extensive international experience, has been appointed as the new coach of the Mali national team. During his career, Saintfiet has led several national teams, including Gambia, Namibia, Malta and Togo. Today, he terminated his contract with the Philippine national team to take on the challenge of leading Mali, who are preparing to face the qualifiers for the next Africa Cup of Nations and the World Cup.

Saintfiet had also recently been strongly linked to the Nigeria bench. Alongside him, Alessandro Soli will most likely take on the role of chief scout for the Malian national team. The two have already collaborated successfully in the Gambia national team, obtaining two historic first qualifications for the Africa Cup of Nations and reaching the quarter-finals in the 2021 edition.
