A market that was truly rich in moves and negotiations has ended, which animated the last day almost until the gong. And so it is time for the first assessments, but as always the pitch will express the verdicts.
Juventus is definitely the team that has changed the most. The work done by Giuntoli is clear for all to see. He gave Thiago Motta a complete group in every department. All targeted and functional operations for a job that will be based on several years. The new midfield is definitely the department that intrigues the most. When Douglas Luiz, Thuram and Koopmeiners are at the top the team will be able to express its potential even more. Kalulu, Nico Gonzalez and Conceição were the last operations. No regrets for Sancho. The attack was already complete and in the end Juventus also preferred to stay that way for a question of balance.
Atalanta also gave a strong signal. It was not easy to improve the squad but the Nerazzurri succeeded. Excellent management of the emergency especially after Scamacca’s injury. The Retegui operation was immediate and then the investments in quality and promising players such as Samardzic, Brescianini, Bellanova just to name a few. Atalanta has been a great reality for years and with Gasperini it can continue to get satisfaction, even if the start was not the best. In short, it can raise the bar of its ambitions even further.
Napoli’s biggest purchase remains Antonio Conte. De Laurentiis has started very well by taking on one of the best coaches in the world. A move that has brought a lot of enthusiasm back into the environment after last year’s tenth place. It is and will be an added value. Buongiorno and Rafa Marin have strengthened the defense, Spinazzola will provide an extra solution on the wing. The McTominay and Gilmour operations are also very important. The former Manchester player was paid a lot but is a top-level player. Not to mention Lukaku and Neres in attack. Now it remains to be seen what will happen with Osimhen, who risks having to wait until January to find a solution.
There is little to add about Inter. The goal was to confirm the Scudetto group, adding the right pieces to be even more competitive. Having taken Zielinski and Taremi well in advance, the squad was then completed by Martinez and the latest arrival Palacios. For a serene management of the season, the club has also worked well on the renewals, in particular that of Simone Inzaghi, Barella and of course Lautaro Martinez, the great leader of the team. A path carried forward with strength and coherence, in the midst of a really rapid change of ownership. And this is certainly not a secondary aspect. Having said all this, Inter still remains the favorite for the title.
Many changes at Milan. Starting with the coach. Fonseca’s choice was courageous. Now it’s up to him to repay the trust. High-level purchases have been made in all sectors. Pavlovic is an excellent defender. Emerson Royal will add depth to the right wing. Morata is a guarantee, Fofana has been long pursued and in the end his inclusion could really be the most important for the Portuguese coach. Abraham will have to be checked out, he has a chance to relaunch himself and demonstrate his value. Perhaps the regret is the failure to arrive of a player like Koné and here Roma was good at anticipating the competition.
