Farioli has his striker, Weghorst has been picked: “It took a while, I knew what I wanted”

From Manchester United to Burnley, slipping through a couple of loans between the Premier League and the Bundesliga, but finally for Wout Weghorst the time has come to start again from a fixed stage and without too many moves. In fact, in the last few hours his purchase from theAjax of Farioli with a permanent transfer and a link with the lancers which will last until 2026.

The official press release. “Ajax, Burnley FC and Wout Weghorst have reached an agreement for the direct transfer of the striker to Ajax. The 32-year-old international has signed a contract with immediate effect that runs until June 30, 2026.

Weghorst was born on 7 August 1992 in Borne and made his professional debut at FC Emmen, where he played from 2012 to 2014. In the following years he played for Heracles Almelo and AZ, before moving to VfL Wolfsburg in 2018.
Since 2022, Weghorst has been under contract with Burnley FC. With the English club, he has spent time on loan at Besiktas, Manchester United and TSG Hoffenheim. The striker made his debut for the Dutch national team in 2018 and has since played 39 games,” the Dutch club’s announcement concluded.

The new arrival’s first words. “When I was a kid, I had an Ajax kit. I remember my grandfather was a big Ajax fan. It’s nice. It actually took a while. It’s always difficult. You’re in a waiting position… waiting for the deal to be done. I knew straight away what I wanted and where I wanted it to go, which made me feel comfortable, but it’s difficult not to be in control. But now I’m very happy.”
