From Sampdoria to Lyon, the annual loan experience at Fulham and landing at Crystal Palace in 2021, until now Joachim Andersen has decided to stay in the Premier League but to change sides. In fact, the Danish central defender has officially signed with The Cottagers a five-year contract, until 2029, with the option to extend for a further 12 months.

The official press release. “The Club is pleased to announce the signing of Joachim Andersen from Crystal Palace for an undisclosed fee.

A fan favourite after his loan spell at Fulham in 2020/21, Andersen has now returned on a permanent deal, with a contract until the summer of 2029, with a club option for a further year,” read the announcement made on social media and the English club’s website.

Talking to FFCTV, here are the first words on Andersen’s official and definitive return: “It’s really nice to be here. It’s a bit like coming home, it’s a nice feeling. Of course I know the club, I know how Fulham are playing, I know a lot of the players, I know some of the staff, so I didn’t need anyone to convince me because I already knew a lot of things,” he began.

Adding: “I had some good discussions with the director. I know the style of play that he likes, so it was just a decision that I had to make on my own, with my wife and my family, and see what’s best for me, and I think this is a good step for my career.” Andersen will wear the number 5 jersey for the Whites, the same number he adopted during his previous spell at the club.
