During an interview given to today’s edition of The Morningthe former Napoli midfielder Diego Demme he spoke about the Scudetto he didn’t win as a protagonist: “Gattuso was a great motivator and, from a tactical point of view, a very well-prepared one. But I also got along very well with Spalletti, despite not playing much: he was someone who, even at the end of a training session, if he saw that you hadn’t given your best, would lecture you. He was capable of getting the best out of all of us, even during the matches in Castel Volturno. And the result was evident”.
The former Azzurri player then focused on the present and on Antonio Conte, who is working to try to turn the page: “He’s doing well, there’s no point in insisting. That cycle is over and we all understood it last year. He’s also right about the formation, the 4-3-3 shouldn’t be an obsession. Only with Mazzarri did we try to do different things”.
A thought then on the possible departure of Osimhen: “It’s not a surprise. I have to admit that Victor is without a doubt the strongest striker I’ve seen play in Italy. His farewell has been talked about since last winter: everyone has heard that he wanted a new adventure. But if Lukaku really arrives, Napoli can do great things”.
