Atalanta unleashed: Retegui and Pubill arriving. But will the Koopmeiners case explode?

It’s a literally unleashed Atalanta which in the last few hours has practically defined two purchases. The Nerazzurri club has replaced the injured Gianluca Scamacca by purchasing the Genoa centre forward outright Mateo Retegui: a twenty-two million euro operation, with the 1999 player who will be in Bergamo in the next few hours for medical visits and the signing of a four-year contract.

Not only that. In the evening, Atalanta closed the purchase of 2003 defender Marc Pubill from Almeria. Currently playing for the Spanish Olympic team, the young centre-back will arrive in Bergamo after this competition: a €15 million plus bonus deal for a defender who will strengthen the defence available to Gasperini.

For Atalanta, however, it’s not all good news. From France came the rumor of a fight between Teun Koopmeiners and Gian Piero Gasperini that took place on Tuesday. In fact, the 1998-born footballer did not train with the rest of the group two days ago and returned to his coach’s disposal only yesterday. At this point, it remains to be seen what repercussions this episode will have on Koopmeiners’ future. For months, the orange midfielder has been the top target of Cristiano Giuntoli, Juventus’ transfer market man, but Atalanta’s valuation, which is asking 60 million euros for his transfer, makes this deal very complicated.
