Genoa this afternoon finalized the transfer of Mateo Retegui to Atalanta. A twenty-two million euro operation with the former Tigre striker who will be in Bergamo tomorrow to undergo medical tests and sign a four-year contract with the Goddess.
Important capital gain for Genoa who, a year after buying him from Tigre for 15 million euros, sold the ’99 class centre forward for seven million euros more (not counting bonuses). Now, however, there is a need in the rossoblù house to deliver Retegui’s heir, the new starting centre forward, to Alberto Gilardino as soon as possible. And in this sense, the rumour launched yesterday evening in England is confirmed: the most popular name is that of Boyan MiovskiMacedonian centre forward born in ’99 who plays for Scottish club Aberdeen.
Who is Miovski: the beginnings in his homeland and the explosion in Scotland
Miovski grew up in Bregalnica Stip, reaching the first team where he made his debut in 2017. He was then sold to Rabotncki, who in turn loaned him for six months to Qarabag with whom he played in the Youth League. In the following years, the Macedonian striker continued to wander, wearing the shirts of Makedonija Gjorce Petrov and Renova. A first part of his career spent largely in his home country, to then be ready to play in other European championships.
His first experience away from Macedonia, except for the brief one at Qarabag, materializes in the 2020/21 season. Miovski goes to play in Hungary in the ranks of MTK Budapest: he stays there for two years, scores 19 goals in 60 games and enters the national team. He does even better in the following two years, when he decides to go to play in Scotland becoming the top scorer for Aberdeen (44 goals in 95 appearances).
