Former manager Reschke advises: “Bayern must urgently extend Kimmich”

The new Bundesliga season will start in just over two weeks and at Bayern Monaco the matter still needs to be unravelled Joshua Kimmichstill a possible candidate for departure, with Paris Saint-Germain having shown on several occasions their interest in the 29-year-old whose contract expires in less than a year (June 2025). This dynamic is not surprising Michael Reschkeformer head of team planning at Bayern: “It’s understandable, because he enriches every team with his mentality and his class,” he explained in an interview with SPORT1.

In 2015, when Reschke was Bayern’s technical director, Kimmich arrived in Munich for €9.5 million: “That was definitely one of the top transfers of the last 15 years. Jo has certainly had phases where he hasn’t played at his best, but even then he is at least a very good Bundesliga player and still a player with an absolute mentality.”

Continuing: “A top international player in the ‘8’ position, because he can use his exceptional quality for the decisive pass much better than in the six position. He also proved himself strong as a right-back at the European Championships”, analyzed Reschke. Then he got to the heart of the matter of the player’s future and the decision to be made at Bayern: “In my opinion, Bayern should urgently strengthen his position in the team and extend his contract”, he concluded.
