Atletico, pharaonic purchases and dream moves: but why can he spend so much on the market?

Many will have noticed it, but for those who missed it at the moment theAtletico Madrid has proven to be one of the most spendthrift clubs of this summer transfer window. Sorloth and Le Normand, with Gallagher and Julian Alvarez arriving and Javi Guerra in the background… operations worth hundreds of millions of euros. But how is it possible that the Madrid club can afford such moves, shelling out such high figures? And all in one summer, to boot.

The reasons actually exist and are multiple.. Certainly, according to the careful analysis of I’m raisingin the last five seasons the expenses made by Atletico have been balanced, with purchases and departures that have guaranteed an optimal balance. In fact, the balance has been positive practically since the 2019-20 season and currently the club red and white navigate in a positive balance of 48.6 million euros.

Another fundamental detail is the qualification for the Champions League. Because in fact Diego Simeone’s team managed to qualify for the most prestigious club tournament organized by UEFA and analyzing only last season Atleti earned almost 90 million euros between the group stage (about 15 million euros), with the 5th place in the ranking of the last 10 years worth another 30 million. Then the market pool (just over 15 million), 5.6 million from victories, draws worth a million overall and the landing in the round of 16 worth almost 10 million. While participation in the latter – after beating Inter in the round of 16 – was worth 10 million euros.

As well as qualifying for the Club World Cup which will be held next summer in the United States, which should bring in between 35 and 50 million euros – reveals the Spanish portal. And possibly further revenues would arrive during the continuation of the competition. Not to mention the free agents which have allowed them to recover hard cash and settle the accounts. With related sales, because the farewells of Saúl, Savic, Hermoso and Morata have been of fundamental importance, while waiting for the sale of Samu Omorodion to Chelsea which will finance the arrivals of two players (Gallagher and Julian Alvarez). And there is still the case of Joao Félix to outline, with a potential sale that would guarantee further earnings.

Last but not least the capital increase and the new sponsors. About seventy million euros injected into the coffers of Atletico, signing important partnerships with Riyad Air, Civitas and Google. And the tours played around the world act as a significant boost in this direction.
