Legrottaglie on Chiesa’s rejection: “Motta’s decision surprised me a lot”

Interviewed by ‘Sky Sport’, former Juventus defender Nicola Legrottaglie – now a manager after his adventure at Sampdoria – expressed himself as follows on the new Juventus cycle signed by Thiago Motta: “I think Juventus has focused on the project and looking to 2025 or 2026 for a player whose contract is expiring is the last of their priorities. Today they are trying to give Thiago Motta those players who adapt as quickly as possible to what he is looking for, because otherwise they won’t need just one transfer session, maybe not even two.

From what I’ve seen in the first two games, you can already see the hand of the new coach, you can see an idea. Then from transferring it to the field there will be a process, but you can already see what difficulties it may have and what an innovative idea it will have compared to before: which doesn’t mean it will be better than the previous one, but different”.

On the management of Federico Chiesa, this is Legrottaglie’s thought: “As a fan I would prefer him to stay, because I think he is one of the strongest in his role. It is really difficult to find an offensive winger who is equally strong in both the short and long term and in this regard I was very surprised by Thiago Motta’s decision to reject him, even if I don’t judge without knowing the facts from the inside, but I am convinced that in this new Juve Chiesa could score 20 goals”.
