“My world fell on me and I really don’t have the words to speak right now. I will try to enjoy this gold on the beam as much as possible, it was so unexpected: I wasn’t even expecting a medal, and instead the gold arrived. I tried to hold my own for this competition, I did it and I’m really happy. I was fighting and I didn’t want to leave without another medal because I did both the all-around which I missed by a hair, and the parallel bars too, but now I can go home very happy”, the words of the gymnast to the microphones of the Italian Gymnastics Federation.

Born in Genoa on February 7, 2003, D’Amato is a Sampdoria fan, and the club wanted to pay homage to her through social media: “Genovese and Sampdoriana”, the message from the Blucerchiati club, accompanying a post that portrays the athlete with the medal she recently won.
