Tesser on Serie A: “Inter, I don’t see them as such favourites. Milan also in the front row”

Attilio Tesserin an interview with The New of Venice and Mestre has laid out the cards for the Serie A championship which will start in a few weeks, having his say on how the tournament’s big teams might fare.

Let’s get to the championship. Everyone gives Inter as the big favorite.
“That’s true, but I don’t see such a gap with the others.”

Let’s try to make the grid like in Formula 1.
“Inter and Milan in the front row, Napoli and Juventus in second, followed by the others.”

There is doubt surrounding Fonseca’s signing by Milan.
“I don’t understand. There are few high-sounding names.”

Will Conte be a factor at Napoli?
“Absolutely yes. He will give stability to the group, he has already said how things will be done and everyone is following him.”

Motta to Juve?
“He was given a great opportunity. He deserved it with a great season at Bologna. I’m curious to see him in action. Juve are making an important transfer market and, let’s not forget, they are the only big team that has let young Italians play in the last two years.”

Championship, Italian Cup, European Cups, Club World Cup. But isn’t there too much to play for?
“Definitely yes. I hear talk of reducing Serie A to 18 teams, but then we would lose those small clubs that are the only ones that let young people play.”
