Ederson is a Hamlet-like doubt for Manchester City. The 30-year-old Brazilian goalkeeper, tied to a contract with the English club until 2026, has cast serious doubt on his future in the Premier League, especially his permanence under Pep Guardiola. But at the moment the player himself has not yet made a decision or taken a decisive step to clearly outline what will happen this summer.
The last. As told by Sky Sports UKthis week Al Ittihad were identified as the latest Saudi club interested in signing the ’93-born goalkeeper. An official offer has yet to be made, but according to the satellite broadcaster it is on its way. The only Middle Eastern club to have so far made a formal offer to City for Ederson was Al Nassr, but they were rejected because they fell well short of the standards required by the English management.
Meanwhile, Pep Guardiola has made several attempts to convince Ederson to stay in Manchester. And when asked about his future, Ederson replied: “There is no decision yet. It was very gratifying to hear Pep say it. It’s my eighth season with him, in which I’ve had many good moments, but also some bad ones. He’s an easy person to work with, he’s a football genius and everyone knows it. So it’s really nice to hear him say it,” explained the Brazilian. Adding: “I’m happy here, I’m having a good time with my teammates and I’m enjoying getting back into shape. I’m very calm, whatever happens is in God’s hands and he knows what the right path is to take. Whatever he gives me, I’ll be happy.”
